ECOCert Preservatives For Vitamin CE Formulations

I have a couple of products that are Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) & E based as the actives and am considering an appropriate preservation system. I would prefer to stick with ECOcert approved preservatives.

At this point, I am leaning towards:

(1) Geogard 221 at 0.8% (Dehydroacetic Acid & Benzyl Alcohol) with 0.35% Potassium Sorbate and 0.1% Sodium Phytate thrown in for good measure.

Since I don’t have any experience with this combination, any thoughts or other recommendations would be appreciated.

I use their Spectrastat product at 0.7% in gels and have had zero problems with it.

Thanks @Belassi. I will look into it.

A bit of interesting information after @MakingSkincare gave me some advice regarding Sodium Phytate.

I found several articles in which testing concluded that tetrasodium dicarboxylmethyl glutamate and citric acid outperformed EDTA in boosting preservative performance in the systems that were tested. Good performance plus the benefit of biodegradability.
