It is actually very high, usually it is close to the preservative.

You can’t get the precise amount of ingredient just by looking at INCI, because INCI is a relative order. Next 2 INCIs are the same, but concentration is different:

    INCI 1: Water (96.3%), Glycerin (2%), Propanediol (1%), Xanthan Gum (0.1%), Phenoxyethanol (0.5%)

    INCI 1: Water (92.2%), Glycerin (5%), Propanediol (3%), Xanthan Gum (0.3%), Phenoxyethanol (0.5%)

The first is a watery toner, The second is a serum. And although they have different concentration, their INCIs are the same. Without knowing the actual percentage you can’t guess how much of ingredient is inside just by looking at relative order.

Kerastase is a world-wide brand. If manufacturer says it is 3% - then it is 3%, otherwise they can get sued and none of big brands want this.

What confused me is that in their website they say it has 3% citric acid and at LOI citric acid is 12th ingredient even after fragrance.

Can it be that 3% citric acid is not in this product and in another product?

      Their LOI

      AQUA / WATER / EAU ● SODIUM COCOYL ISETHIONATE ● DISODIUM LAURETH SULFOSUCCINATE ● GLYCOL DISTEARATE ● SODIUM LAURYL SULFOACETATE ● SODIUM LAUROYL SARCOSINATE ● GLYCERIN ● PARFUM / FRAGRANCE ● PPG-5-CETETH-20 ● DECYL GLUCOSIDE ● COCAMIDOPROPYL BETAINE ● COCO-BETAINE ● CITRIC ACID ● DIVINYLDIMETHICONE/DIMETHICONE COPOLYMER ● AMODIMETHICONE ● SODIUM HYDROXIDE ● POLYQUATERNIUM-7 ● POLYQUATERNIUM-10 ● CARBOMER ● SODIUM BENZOATE ● SODIUM CHLORIDE ● LIMONENE ● PEG-55 PROPYLENE GLYCOL OLEATE ● PROPYLENE GLYCOL ● SALICYLIC ACID ● BENZOIC ACID ● HYDROLYZED VEGETABLE PROTEIN PG-PROPYL SILANETRIOL ● GLYCINE ● POLYSORBATE 21 ● TRIDECETH-6 ● LINALOOL ● C12-13 ALKETH-23 ● C12-13 ALKETH-3 ● CITRAL ● CETRIMONIUM CHLORIDE ● PHENOXYETHANOL ● POTASSIUM SORBATE

I think they just added a lot of fragrance. And Citric Acid is at 3% as they claim.

They also claim 5% “glycine” when they apparently mean glycerine.

And that glycine is 29th ingredient on LOI.

Does it occur to folks…. a LOT of people don’t know how to make a LOI? 😉

Could it be…. they were meaning a 3% citric acid solution? 😆

I would normally just dismiss it as that but this is from L’Oreal! They know how to make an ingredient list.

Hahaha….I did not even look at the brand…. just figured with the sketchy marketing, it was a FaceBook type product. We’ll give them a pass…but a reprimand for pushing the marketing envelope.

Keep in mind my perspective….just minutes earlier I was commenting on this LOI on FB:

Product Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Refined Shea Butter, Castor Oil, Aloe Vera, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin e, Aloe Vera Powder, Lanoline.

Care to comment? 😂 Oh….and for perspective…that is a LOTION!

And….NO…. I did not change the spelling….a true ‘copy and paste’. 😂

Oh….and lest I forget….I stand firmly behind my original comment of…. Many (not all) companies simply don’t have the acumen to create a LOI. 😂 Again….not referring to the big dogz…. just the other subset.

Here is what they specifically claim…

    3% Citric Acid

Our range formulated with Citric acid, acts from core to surface to deeply eliminate calcium overdose and help neutralise dullness and stiffness.

    5% Glycine

Once excess calcium is removed, our products, formulated with glycine, are designed to strengthen the hair fibre’s internal structure. Reducing breakage, restoring hair strength, and leaving it beautifully shiny and supple.

    ———

I don’t think they mean “this formula has 3% citric acid or 5% Glycine”. They say “Our range formulated with Citric acid…”

They also say “…our products, formulated with glycine…” so again not referring to a specific formula.

So, I would guess that they are referring to the fact that they use a 3% Citric acid solution and a 5% Glycine solution. This seems misleading to me but I think we can safely conclude

No, they are not using 3% citric acid in their formula nor are they using 5% glycine.
