Im trying to formulate a conditioner with ecofriendly ingredients. The only promising ingredient I found was distearoylethyl dimonium chloride. When asked from gracefruit if it could be used instead of behentrimonium methosulfate they replied that no (no explanation given)

Im trying to figure out why not..

The happi article recommends a cationic polymer with this (and other quats).. Dont know any naturals, is there any with ecocert that is not that toxic to aquatic life and is ecocert?

Also, the recommended usage rate with the DDC (and stearic acid) is max 10%, but im making solid conditioner bars, so can it be very harmful if there is like 60% of it in the formula? When recommended usage rate of BTMS is about 10% too, but for example in swift crafty monkeys blog she uses 60 % of BTMS in solid conditioner..
