  dish wash liquid

  I am currently trying to formulate a liquid dish wash. i know that sodium benzoate is prohibited under biocide regulations and therefore cannot be used in household. i usually only formulate wash off cosmetics so slightly out of my depth. can anybody recommend a natural alternative?
  I considered using lactic and alcohol but would prefer to be alcohol free if possible. cost is a factor so commodity materials preferred over expensive trade blends.
