  • Dimethicone vs PEG-12 Dimethicone in shampoo

Hi everyone, currently i’m using dimethicone in my shampoo formulation. but i realized it separated after a while. so im thinking to replace with peg-12 dimethicone. i had tried with 1 & 2% of peg-12 dimethicone but i found it not slippery enough after wash hair. previously i’m using 1% dimethicone. So, i like to ask if anyone had used peg-12 dimethicone before, and usually how many percent? thank you in advance.

    Yes I used it.

PEG-12 Dimethicone is water soluble, so it mostly gets rinsed down the drain when used in a shampoo. No extra amount is going to get you the feel of Dimethicone

Dimethicone does not used in shampoo.you should add Dimethiconol (and) TEA-Dodecylbenzenesulfonate.it is emulsion of silicone for shampoo uses.

Dimethicone has been used in shampoos by many brands (like P&G) for decades. It’s a bit less hydrophillic than Dimethiconol and requires some suspension capacity from your formula.
