  • Diluting essential oils in carrier oils

Posted by LisaK on March 16, 2014 at 9:25 pm
  • I plan to use the following carrier oils:
    • Almond oil
    • Avocado oil
    • Jojoba oil
    • Borage oil
  • I want to blend in these essential oils:
    • Lavender
    • Rosemary
    • Sandalwood
    • Geranium

Any advice on the order or the percentages?  This is for personal use for dry hair.  (based on 8 oz bottle)

    Thank you!

You could ask in the DIY section of the forum of basenotes.net - http://www.basenotes.net/forums/15-Fragrance-DIY - there are a lot of very helpful perfumers there.

Manufacturing/batching order is irrelevant with these materials.

I would reconsider borage oil as it is very polysaturated and goes rancid quickly. It might tgough be somewhat stabilised the other oils. Essential oils can cause sensitising reactions in some people.if a product is not meant to wash of and can sit on the skin for lenghts of time, it is not recommended to use more than 2% in the final product. Most suppliers recommend nit to use essential oils in pregnancy and on babies and young children.
