Developing a line of skin care products
Posted by genevachen on May 31, 2016 at 2:50 pmI was asked to develop a skin care line for a company with 4 products (Cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer). The work includes formulation development and stability testing. I am wondering how much I should charge for doing the work?

Here there are some experts than may orientate you but i think it will help them to know some requirements/specifications. Not all formulations have the same dificulty/time requirements

Basically the company just provided me with examples of commercial products they liked; they are looking for a natural skin care line with plant extracts. I need to source the material, develop formula for 4 products (not too complicated), and conduct stability studies.
They want to focus on a gentle cleanser, toner to help with dark spots and skin tone, vitamin C serum, and s non-greasy moisturizer to help with wrinkle. -
The amount you charge can vary widely. One way you can do it is to figure out how long it will take you to complete the project, double that then decide how much you want to charge per hour.
Or you could just say something like $5000 per formula.
It really depends on how much it is worth to you.

GuestOctober 31, 2016 at 1:56 amHow did this company contact you?
I am looking to start my own line of children’s shampoos and conditioners, and need guidance on who/how/were to communicate to.
I am looking for someone or a company to formulate for me as well, with a few guidelines that I’d like for them to have.
Please send me websites or some form of how i can reach them, to hire formulators for my product line as well.
THANK YOU!

There is a pinned post that lists Formulators on the main Page “Formulation Services.”
