I am happy to be in this forum. It is a big deal to me. Thank you for accepting me here.

To my questions. I want to start detergent powder and liquid production on a small scale and build it over time due to capital insufficiency. So I searched for a cost friendly formulation with a view to get profit while doing what I love. I made the detergent. It did not foam much. Also, when you wash like 4 shirts, it stops foaming till you add another quantity of detergent to it and when you leave it for sometime in the bucket or washing machine, it doesn’t foam again till you add another quantity.
I found another formulation for 10kg is as follows:

    Soda Ash light- 3kg
    Salt - 3kg
    Sodium bicarbonate-300g
    Hydrogen peroxide- 1kg
    SLES- 500g
    Symphonic Acid- 700g
    Trisodium Phosphate- 500g
Zeolite ( I used this because STPP)- 200g
    CMC (Cellulose) -200g
    Color 500g
    Perfume 20g.

Total cost of chemicals without any other cost is seven hundred and fifty naira (Nigerian Currency equivalent to 1.3 dollars). Please, those in the business, is this how the profit margin is? If no, please help with a better formulation or adjust the formulation for me.

Please note that the market is full of many products and 1kg is sold for Nine Hundred Naira. The demands are: high foam and effective stain removal.

Please help a sister. Thank you all.

@JaneY Is the formula you posted, for a powder detergent? I’m a bit confused. I’ll asume that, since there’s no water in that formula. But then the amount of those ingredients don’t make much sense. Also, are you making the batch at home? I’d find it very hard to imagine that without proper equipment. Are phosphates still allowed in your country? Please give us more info so we can assist you better.
