crystallization on sunscreen stick
A few months ago, I formulated a sunscreen in stick form. The sensory profile was excellent, non-greasy, lightweight, and non-shiny. I placed it in an accelerated stability chamber (75% humidity at 40 °C) for one month, which simulates a shelf life of up to one year, and it passed the test with flying colors.
I put the project on hold for a few months to prioritize other developments. Now that I’ve revisited the samples, I’ve noticed they’ve all crystallized, and I’m not sure why. I’m hoping someone might be able to help me understand what happened or offer suggestions on what to do next. I’m thinking i will have to reformulate but i don’t know where to start.
I appreciate any help you can offer.
