Critique of Natural Skincare
Hi everyone, I have a question regarding to natural skin care, and is that : Is ‘natural’ skincare a good area to focus on? What are the main scientific and formulation problems with natural skincare products?

You have asked a question with no answer.
When you formulate, you formulate based on scientific principles, and this holds true for a purely synthetic formula as well as a natural formula. Not sure if your question was oriented towards marketing, of mastering formulation skills?
Typically, a formulator is given direction and qualifications of the end product before one starts to formulate, so you know what can and cannot be used in the formula, since it will be targeting a demographic.
The drawbacks of natural formulations? You lose many of the best and most effective ingredients, especially in the area of haptics and preservation. As well, you wade into an area where many ingredients are allergens…hence why synthetic ingredients were created to begin with.
If the marketing department is targeting ‘greenies’, then the formula needs to reflect that. Typically, these customers are more forgiving of efficacy and haptics, in the name of being ‘green’. As well….with no definition of ‘natural’, you can create something you deem natural….and then the greenies will scream at you…..”this ain’t natural”….and guess what….. no one can win that argument.
So, to vaguely try and answer …. your focus should be on formulating to the target market you have singled out. If you look at the big picture…. most people just want functional things that work well, feel nice, and smell nice. The green segment is growing….but quite noisy… so they seem bigger than they are. 😂
I focus on deodorant…..guess what? When people stink….they lose their ethos pretty darn quick…and grab what works. 😂😂
