    Hi!
I would like to formulate a color enhancer shampoo for black coat (dog). Any pigment or dye suggestions? I already use Sensient’s UNICERT(R) VIOLET K7025-J for my blue shampoo but I am not satisfied with their other shades.
Ultimately, I would also like to formulate color enhancer shampoos for golden, brown and red coats.

My neutral shampoo is a blend of nonionic, anionic and amphoteric surfactant corrected to a acid ph to get the amphoterics to behave in a cationic way. So the dye or pigment should be cationic compatible.

    Thanks a lot!

Dyes are not met to be ingested,  keep in mind that animals self groom. They should not be exposed to chemicals for the sake of their owners vanity.

I’ll second that motion from @Syl. You are looking at using the Arianor semi-permanent dyes (also Sensient products) onto the fur of dogs? I don’t think that is wise.  If you must do this, why not use instead an optical brightener such as Optiblanc SX from 3V Sigma USA, disodium distyrylbiphenyl disulfonate? You’ll need only 0.50% maximum in there, it is not so anionic as to interfere with any surfactant, and is non-toxic. This brings out the color highlights no matter what color the fur.

@chemicalmatt, out of curiosity, I am assuming the dyes you recommended are safe to use on fur, are they also proven safe for ingestion? Some companies are now promoting conditioners containing quats like BTMS for dogs. Since quats attaches to the fur, when a dog grooms are they ingesting some? Chronic low level exposure of quats cant be very good for the animal.
