Cold process whitener in hand wash
Hi all. I am new in formulation world. I am trying to formulate a liquid handwash with water+SLES+CAPB+CoDEA+NaCl+citric acid+Glycerin+DMDM hydantoin using cold process. I want to make it pearly white in color. Is it ok to use titanium dioxide? Or is there a way to use glycol distearate/monostearate by cold mixing process. Any other suggestions or guidance on this will be very helpful. Thanks

Thank you all for your comments. I suppose for cold mixing, as suggested, easiest is to use pearl powder.
Just out of curiosity, i haven’t seen many products using Titanium dioxide in handwash. Is it because of its toxicity? I presume it is used more commonly in other cosmetics.

TiO2 is very difficult to disperse properly. You would need high yield polymers, dispersing agents etc. it isn’t worth it when there are pearlisers available.

I think we need to differentiate between Pearlizer and Opacifier. If you want a Pearlized product use a cold dispersible liquid pearl as described above. TiO2 to my knowledge will never Pearl a product though just provide opacity/whiteness. If Pearl is not required and you just desire an Opacifier I would recommend using (INCI: Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer) instead.
