  Calculating reguired hlb value

  Hello, i try to calculate an organic molecule’s required value. I could not find on required hlb lists. Is it allways an empiric list or is there a formula to calculate required hlb. One of the structure i am searching for is “octocrylene”. I dont want just the value i also want to learn the calculating.

  Thank you. I’ve read the book. And read it again. Now i answer my own question. If anyone is reading. The hlb values of surfactants are mathematically calculated by some equations (Griffin and Croda methods is there any other…) And also you can find so many nonionic surfactants hlb values as listed. When it comes the oil phase, the required hlb there is no mathematical way.
  You can easily estimate the required hlb value of an oil or oil composition by empiric way. Read the book DAS commented it helps estimating every oil or oil compositions.
