  • buffering sodium ascorbyl phophate

I have researched this as extensively as I can but still I am not sure…

If the pH of my formulation comes in at around pH 8 and I want to take it down to 7 for the sake of the Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate in the cream is citric acid / sodium citrate the right buffer system.  I have tried it - I take the pH down with the citric acid and then add the sodium citrate and it seems to work but I think my method is a little crude.  Also does EDTA impact on the buffering in a positive way?  Can someone perhaps refer to a good document on buffering?  Many thanks.
