• Botulism

Hi everyone! I am so glad to be on this board; so many questions come up in my experiments with small batch cream, soap and body product making. I’ve discovered that aloe vera gel and oil combine very nicely into a lotion without any emulsifiers.
I was thinking of making a “dry” version of this lotion to avoid preservatives that you “just add water to”. I would “dry” the oil with tapioca maltodextrin, and add dehydrated aloe vera. The client could just take some in their hand and “add water” to it to make a lotion. Here is my question! Is there a risk of botulism developing in the dry mixture with the tapioca and dry aloe vera sitting with it in the package over time? I wonder if anyone has an idea about this? Thank you!

I think botulism would be the least of your worries
