  • Best full spectrum UV protection mineral blends for use in spray on sun block formulas?

Looking to make prototypes of a spray on mineral sunscreen that could be put into production later on. Companies such as Umicore sell such blends, and BASF has their Z-COTE full spectrum zinc oxide to make formulation easier and help ensure you’re making an effective product (which has been a problem with a lot of “natural” mineral sun blocks, from badger brand to the honest company).

    1. Have you worked with any (ideally ecocert) mineral dispersion blends that could easily plug into such a formula?

    2. Do you have any recommendations as to what emulsifiers to use in a spray-on system?

I’m not sure that a spray-on mineral sunscreen will ever be possible. Having a formula strong enough to suspend the minerals very probably means that it will be too thick to spray safely.

I was wondering if this was the case, but there are a few spray on mineral-only spray sunscreens out there that get good reviews, e.g. http://www.amazon.com/Goddess-Garden-Natural-Sunscreen-Trigger/dp/B00KBXP44I/ref=pd_sim_194_7?ie=UTF8&refRID=0N1KG7TWKNDA7XYAWXJH
