  • Anhydrous Balm With BTMS And Essential Oils (No preservative)

Hi there, I am new to this forum and have joined to get some advice on creating anhydrous products.

    My question is:

Is it possible to mix BTMS or any other conditioning agent with raw Shea butter to create a leave on conditioning hair balm?
Also would I need to use a preservative if the product only has Shea butter, BTMS and essential oils?

    Hello Monique,
I do not see any problem why you could not put an emulsifier like BTMS (which  one?) in an anhydrous balm.
And for preservation you do not have water activity, so as long as there is no risk for your product to be in contact with water (even by consumer mistake), you do not need one necessarily.
