A client had mentioned the Crystal line of deodorants as a standard for a naturally derived Doedorant. I looked at the line and noticed it uses Ammonium Aluminum (Aka Ammonium Alum) as the active.

If it is an Aluminum compound, why isn’t it an OTC Antiperspirant.

Secondly what percentage are they using. I have done some extensive searches with little to no luck.

I suppose it’s because Ammonium Aluminum is not listed in the monograph as an approved active ingredient for antiperspirants.  This is also the reason they aren’t required to list their use %

    FDA monograph here.

Mark, I think those crystal sticks are just aluminum chloride, plus some Epsom salt, other stuff.  The “ammonium” tag is a red herring. Further evidence of the paucity of integrity among so many in the natural product industries. Just look at the price points: I rest my case.

…and I know what you’re already thinking: yes, they do stain one’s clothing. Big time.
