alcohol is one of the ingredients. I was told by another chemist to buy Everclear…thoughts? If that’s not a wise choice what would you buy?

I use generic Everclear….because it is cheaper…and even higher proof…190.  Ethanol is ethanol.  Typically I am using it as a solvent for myrrh, and a few other specialty extracts I concoct.  It does not exceed…1-3% of my formulas.
It is of course volatile, so formulate accordingly.

Unfortunately, you cannot buy Everclear 190 in California, it is also illegal in some other states.

We will buy 190 proof everclear which for all intents and purposes is equivalent to nondenatured alcohol. It is cheaper than paying for an ATF permit at the low levels we use.
