Fact or fiction…. ? Regarding medical claims in customer comments / reviews.
As I dust the cobwebs off of my brain…. it seems as though I had once heard that the FDA has some expectations for the monitoring of your own reviews? Not sure if I imagined this…. dreamed it… or if it is reality.
Of course, I am aware that one cannot make false medical claims on cosmetics in marketing propaganda, but where the lines blur is when the claims are made by those writing a legitimate review. Often overzealous consumers will make elaborate claims about a product, that clearly cannot be substantiated.
Is there any FDA verbiage that addresses customer reviews of unsubstantiated medical claims for a cosmetic product? (Links appreciated.) Does the seller have an obligation to correct medical claims in the customer reviews?
