Peel Pad Reformulation Help
Hello! I am currently working on reformulating two peel pad formulas (original formulas were not made by me) and am in need of assistance. We’ve received complaints that the formula is oxidizing, and it is especially visible on the aluminum induction seal in the packaging. I’m hoping to identify the source of the oxidation in each formula, and find solutions to propose:
Formula 1:
Water - 72.5%Mandelic Acid - 1%
Lactic Acid- 15%
Glycolic Acid - 4%
Sodium Hydroxide - 3%
Euxyl K 712- 1.5%
Final pH: 3.7 - 4.2Formula 2:
Water - 64.45%
Lactic Acid - 25%
Salicylic Acid - 0.15%
Coenzyme Q10 - 5%
Retinol Liposome - 1.5%
Polysorbate 20 - 2%
Euxyl K 712 - 1.5%
Superoxide Dismutase - 0.4%
Sodium Hydroxide - q.s. to pH 3.45I am aware that these concentrations are a bit crazy and that there are major chemical incompatibilities with Formula 2, however, the company that we formulate this for does not want to remove any of the active ingredients if possible. If ingredients have to change in formula 2, it is mandatory that the reformulation includes the Coenzyme Q10 and Superoxide Dismutase.
