Hello everyone! Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I took a recommended percentages from a comment by @chemist77 and it comes out great.

The thing is, I want to make it a stronger hold and with the final cooled down product to have a very think viscosity.

    Here is the formula:

    Water: 50%

    Ceteareth-25: 25%

    Glycerin: 7%

    Propylene Glycol: 8%

    PVP: 5%

    Peg 7 Cocoate: 3%

    Scent: 1%

    DMDM: .6%

I’ve tried uping the C-25, reducing water, etc. but it never comes out how I want it. I am looking for a strong thich pomade that i can slide my finger over on the top and just a little comes out.

I got plenty free digital beers for anyone that can help me!

    Thank you!

I’ll take that cyber-beer, make it an IPA. You must reduce the level of PVP there Bigtime. At 5.0% this is going nowhere; 1.0% is more like it especially if PVP K90. Likewise reduce glycerin/propylene glycol level and ratio. Should be < 10.0% total and glycerin: PG at 3:1. Finally PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate adds nothing to these pomades, yet everyone adds it because…well…everyone else does. Get your hands on PEG-25 Lanolin and add 5 - 7 % of THAT and you’ll have a monster hold without any PVP needed.

@chemicalmatt I do live in the craft beer capital of the US so I definely know how good IPAs are!

Thanks for the tips. I am on the hunt for some PEG-25 Lanolin to replace the PVP. In the mean time, I’ll make the adjustments and let you know how it comes out.
