    Hi friends,

I’m trying to replicate the Kose Speedy Cleansing oil but no matter which base oils I use it’s not coming out clear. I assumed it was possible a polarity issue so I’ve tried the following:

    - Caprylic/Capric triglyceride

    - Ethylhexyl Palmitate

    - Squalane

    - Isohexadecane

It seems that in all of the above it’s cloudy and not clear… any ideas?

Have you actually checked the ingredient list?

That would tell you what oil/s they used …

This cleanser is mineral oil based. Here is the ingredient list …

Mineral Oil, Peg-8 Glyceryl Isostearate, Cethyl Ethylhexancate, Cyclomethicone, Water, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Isostearic Acid, Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol.

Of course I checked the INCI of the product… but I’m working on replacing the mineral oil obviously.

Good luck trying to replicate Japanese cleansing oils… According to my experience it’s very hard even when INCI list seems to be very simple. There’s always a detail very hard to achive (eg.: any bad odor even if you use the same INCI). Japanese companies are very skilled with more complex emulsions like bicontinuous microemulsions (many Japanese cleansing oils are that type of microemulsions).

    Hello,

I also think a polarity issue is very likely.

    Suggestions:

    - add another emollient with solvent and solubilization property,

    - try another solubilizer,

    - check for impurities in raw materials and replace one ingredient with another if necessary.
