Does anyone have any recommendations for an instrument that can determine SG of hot pour products like deodorants? Looking to determine SG for deodorants to help with scale up process and ability to determine the fill weight needed but not sure how that would work considering the temperature of the formulas when they are liquid vs the fact that they are solid at ambient temp. Any insight would be appreciated!

Check the SpG in a glass fritted density bottle at 60C or so using a water bath or microwave oven, wipe it dry quickly then weigh and record temp while doing so. Look up water density at that temp from the tables and you will have SpG. The SpG at 25C will not be significantly different as long as you reference water volume mass at same temp. I’ve used a 100ml Kimax graduate cylinder for this too. You get a value close enough to work with.
