Hi I am using Sunspheres PGL polymer in an SPF lotion formulation. The INCI name is Styrene/Acrylate copolymer which is used to increase the water resistance and as a film former. It also thickens the formulation. Does anyone know if it is better to add this to the water phase or the oil phase of the emulsion at around 80 degrees C or directly to the emulsion at around 35-40 degrees C? I was planning on adding it to the water phase as I have added it previously after forming the formulation at around 35 degrees C but it didn’t increase the viscosity.

@Sapphire That Sunspheres product will not have any effect on viscosity. I’m unsure where you learned this but it is incorrect.
