  • How to get more payoff in mascara formula?

Hi! Im a new formulator and I was assigned my first color cosmetic project about two weeks ago and Im still having trouble. The benchmarks I was given were the TOK, and ILEA mascaras. Ive tried to reverse engineer both of them separately and combine parts that I liked from each one and I still dont have a good enough product that matches the benchmarks.

My main issue is the way it coats my lashes. The mascara doesnt add volume to the ends of my lashes, just the roots. Ive gotten advice from suppliers on film formers like Koboguard natural pxf, antaron v 220f, increasing the gums or waxes etc. but im still having the same issue. Ive added silica to help with adding volume as well but nothing has come of it. Added thicker emollients like Dimer Dilinoleyl Dimer Dilinoleate to see if it helps but nothing.

If anyone has any tips Id appreciate it. They are also looking for mostly natural ingredients and no synthetics if possible. I had made one using PVP and i liked it but they dont want it in the inci.
