Improving Cosmetic Education
Hello,
I am a Pharmacy graduate. I have some experience with formulating cosmetic after completing my course and also working at my home lab. I recently noticed that many graduates want to pursue a career in cosmetics after graduation, but the education system offered to us make it difficult to learn proper basics.
I want to start a startup to solve the problem. I am hoping to organize one day cosmetic workshops for students at their college itself, to get them interested in learning about cosmetics and to also provide the basics of creating a particular type of formula like cream, or lotion. I am currently experimenting and trying to create a base formula, and then teach them what they can change inorder to alter the texture and how to add extracts.
I want to make sure I am able to provide the highest quality workshops. I am looking for ways I can learn good formulation skills that I can teach, and will make it easier for students to get started. I know there are many online courses, but most students including me are unable to afford them.
I would be very thankful if someone can suggest some good resources. Also, I am open to hearing any suggestions you have about this idea of mine.

You can also get some ideas for beginner workshops from IPCS’s workshop or course work

IPCS provides an ingredient pack for their students, so can you work with the repackers to get a suitable ingredients pack for your workshop as well.

The workshops on IPCS are affordable. But I noticed that they teach how to make natural formulas only. Is this a good option? Because I have heard that cosmetic chemists working in the industry, do not think natural is better than synthetic or vice versa. I am looking for a more general course that can teach not just natural.
I did look through Perry’s course. But as of now, I can’t afford it. It would take a huge time to save that much money.
