Hi - I am naive in the field, so please help, i know it’s stupid to most experts! I have a formulation that contains ingredient X at 3%. The ingredient X is comprised of 45% of ingredient Y and the remaining is ingredient Z. How much ingredient Y and Z do I have in the final formulation?? What’s the calculation?

    3% x 45% = 1.35% of ing Y

    3% x 55% = 1.65% of ing Z

Thank you so much Perry! I had been trying to compare 2 ways formulators were calculating and it was doing my head in!

last thing, if the ingredient Y is 100 ppm, would it be 0.01%, so we would go with 3% x 0.01%?
