  • Has anyone used this instant compliance verification tool?

Posted by JrFormulat0r on September 4, 2023 at 5:58 pm

I recently came across a tool that claims to be able to instantly verify if a formula is compliant with regulatory/retail standards (EU, FDA, Sephora clean). I typically spend a few hours verifying if each formula is compliant and this sounds pretty useful

I was wondering if anyone has used this tool before and what their experience was. Here’s the link: https://www.cosmex.ai/

    Thank you!

I have not tried anything like this- although I am a major skeptic when it comes to these things so I would be hesitant. Some eQMS have these built in, but i’m told they are not 100%, still requires oversight.

I would love to throw in a few formulas that I know would flag and test it for sensitivity and accuracy- if you’re considering this tool, this is how I would validate it. I feel, while useful, it will still require some oversight as anything regulatory is extremely nuanced and this is why experts in this field are difficult to replace (my opinion). And will not replace your compliance verification process, but streamline it as there will still be manual work for regular validation.

Seems they ought to have more than just this page - some reason to believe it works.

My UL Prospector account already provides all this information in the material search.

Does UL let you upload a formula?

I actually just got a demo of the tool, they’re pretty quick with their responses. I just requested a demo through their website

I was genuinely impressed because this tool goes above and beyond what UL offers. The way it works is you input details about the formula (such as the body part it’s used on, product format, etc.), along with your ingredients and their concentrations. Then, you choose the regulatory or retail standard you want to comply with. The tool will then assess whether your formula meets those standards and provide actionable recommendations if it doesn’t. It even highlights any specific labeling requirements your product may need.

I uploaded a few of my own formulas, and the tool was accurate. It’s impressive, though it does come at a premium cost

As you build the Formulation and vet materials you ensure the overall Formulation is compliant. This is pretty straightforward. Simply, it’s not a product that we would gain any real benefit from.

This sounds like The Good Face Project. I have done a demo of Good Face and it is impressive. But, quite pricey on a monthly fee basis. I just signed up to demo this tool. Thanks for bringing it to everyone’s attention.

$3,000 per month, but I think they recently dropped the price. How much does this tool cost?
