    Hello chemists/formulators

I have recently formulated a facial serum with Floraesters k-20w. The serum is gel based with no emulsifier (only siligel and HMW sodium hyaluronate as gelling agent). I just followed Floratech’s advice for formulating techniques using pre-dispersion of k-20 in glycol (I use Hydrolite 5 green) until it completely dissolved before adding to the system. The serum is not clear but looks cloudy which I don’t mind.

I just wonder if the product needs to be clear to remain stable over time? If cloudy product is not an issue and no solubiliser used in the system, would k-20 be dispersed throughout the system ? Would there be any chance the oil part of k-20w, without the use of emulsifier/solubiliser, floating on top of the water ?

    Thank you very much.

I would not expect you to experience any issues with this system around the Floratech product. A Siligel based system is always going to be cloudy anyway.
