Micellar water ph
Posted by Mohammad on March 2, 2023 at 6:16 amHello, I have formulated a micellar water, but I have a problem, when I raise the ph to 5.5, the solution becomes cloudy. How do I fix this problem?

Why are you trying to raise the pH? If you Micellar Cleanser has a pH below 5.5, better for preservation. There really isn’t any benefit to raising the pH.

Sorry, what I mean is that when I try to bring the ph from 7.5 to below 6, the solution becomes cloudy

But if you would like to know the reason why it is getting cloudy you would need to provide full formula.

I’ve been doing this cosmetic science gig for >40 years. Can someone explain to me what the heck is implied, explained or described - preferably in physical chemistry lexicon - by “micellar water”? I’ve long considered this a marketing scam.

Remove the urea and reduce surfactant level. Urea is going to keep the pH up anyway.
