  Hair Gel Issues

  Hi everyone! I’m making a hair gel and whenever I go to fill the jars with product, a weird stringy looking texture forms on top (looks like ramen noodles) once it solidifies. This only happens with one variation of our gel and the only difference between this and other variations is that it contains beeswax pastilles. Could this be the cause of the texture? And if so, what could be done to prevent this?

  @Stell we would need a bit more intel than what you divulge here. E.g. Is this gel based on carbomer? Did you use a straight PEG with it also? This could take a while.

    The formula is made up of water, ceteareth-25, PEG-7 glyceryl cocoate, PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, propylene glycol, beeswax, then some actives and a preservative

  What is your other variations you are comparing to? if i understand well, I am assuming separation happens on top, because of inefficient emulsification. if your are trying to make a “gel type” wax based on water&ceteareth-25, beeswax is not needed. At least not for thickening.
