  • Facial cleanser - how to get smooth after feel?

Hi Everyone! I’m currently formulating a gentle gel facial cleanser, my most recent formula is below:

    Water - QS

    Disodium EDTA - 0.1%
    Carbopol Aqua SF1 - 10%
Iselux Ultra Mild (Aqua (and) Sodium Lauroyl Methyl Isethionate (and) Cocamidopropyl Betaine (and) Sodium Methyl Oleoyl Taurate (and) Lauryl Glucoside (and) Coco-Glucoside) - 25%
    Triethanolamine - 1.75%
    Castoryl Maleate - 0.5%
    Jojoba Esters -1%
    Glycerin - 3%
    Sodium Polyacrylate - 0.1%
Liquapar ME (Phenoxyethanol (and) Methylparaben (and) Ethylparaben (and) Caprylyl Glycol) - 1%
I’m happy with the cleansing efficacy, but the after feel isn’t as smooth as I’d like.  At the end of cleansing, the feel is a bit ‘draggy’.  Increasing the surfactant content helps, but I’d like to avoid doing this as I’m trying to keep the formulation as gentle as possible.  Does anyone have any recommendations to achieve a smoother/softer skin feel post cleansing?

Thanks so much for the help!

Adding some ‘refatting’ agent can be a option, like Cocamide DEA/MEA or a ethoxylated emollient. You have to find the optimum concentration where it don’t affect the cleaning efficacy.
