  turning green - using Tanning Mousse

  Hi, can someone give me some guidelines?

  I working on a tanning mousse using three and four colours combine to make brown. When applied to the skin it turns green. 

  1) Red 4, Yellow 5, blue 1 
  2) Red 4, Yellow 5, blue 1, Red 33

  I know this combination works as I have seen many products with these INCI lists.
  can you help me troubleshoot potential issues?

  The pH of my formulation is 4.15, I added the colourants at room temperature and use sodium metabisulfite

  hi there 

  the easiest way to go about this contact the manufacturer of your colorants and ask them for basic formulations that you can get a good impression of the necessary amounts and the different shades you can create with them it is not so easy to just tell you a combination because it heavily depends on the quality of the colorants and the shades you have of them.

  I will tell you this is a very “tricky” thing to get right.  We have been manufacturing these types of products for years.  I can’t get into specifics but you should maybe start with a brown blend and then add to the product to adjust that.  If it is too green you need less blue most likely.
