Home Cosmetic Science Talk Formulating Glyceryl Caprylate (GMCY) vs Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate

  • Glyceryl Caprylate (GMCY) vs Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate

Anyone know if there is much of a difference between these two molecules?  Glyceryl Caprylate is marketed as a preservative booster and refattener and the makingskincare preservative review says that it is unsuitable for use with surfactants, while Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate (MakeYourOwn.buzz) is described as a surfactant booster and thickener.  I’m curious if anyone has had experience working with either or both of these products or if anyone might be able to shed some light if Glyceryl Caprylate Caprate can also be used in lieu of glycols as a preservative booster.

These are really poor “boosters” - esp. vs Gram negatives and their esterases.
