  PEG-150 Distearate in shampoo/liquid soap formulations

  Hey,

  Sometimes I use PEG-150 distearate as a thickener in some formulations, but I notice there is no increase in the viscosity (even using high concentrations). I noticed that this happens when I use some non-ionic (e.g. decyl glucoside) and non-sulfated anionic surfactants (e.g. disodium cocoyl glutamate).

  Does anyone noticed it too? Why does this happen?

  @tecnico3vinia, that thickener is nearly exclusive for fatty alkyl ether sulfates and sulfonates. PEG-150DS does not associate well with the other surfactant classes, as you have noticed. Same holds true with NaCl: everyone thinks it thickens everything in detergent surfactant chemistry. Not happening.
