Hi everyone, call me Rafaela and text some shampoo recipes.
I received a recipe with these ingredients:
    Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate 10%
    Citric acid 0,5%
    Water 41%
    EDTA 0,5%
    Cocobetaine 20%
    Sodium Lauroamphoacetate 20%
    Lauramine Oxide 2%
    Coconut oil 3,5%
    Glycerin 1%
    hydrolyzed keratin 1%
    PEG-150 distearate 1%

When I make the shampoo without the keratin, the recipe remains stable for days.
But if I do it with keratin, the recipe separates. What could be happening?

My guess would be that by adding Coconut Oil you are on the cusp of an unstable system.  When you add the hydrolyzed keratin you step over the line and make your system unstable. Take out the coconut oil.

There is no point in adding oils to shampoo systems. Shampoos are meant to REMOVE oil.  All you do by putting an oil in your system is your tie up surfactant so it won’t be available to clean the hair.
