Hi! I’m working on a serum with Aristoflex AVC (ammonium acryloyldimethyltaurate/ vp copolymer) and Sepimax Zen (polyacrylate crosspolymer-6) and we are having some issues with pilling.

    The formula is basically

    75% water
    10% actives
    8% oils
    5% glycols
    1% aristoflex
    1% preservative

The Aristoflex feels great but we have some electrolytes in the formula, and about half of the test batches separated. Thus, Sepimax Zen is the most recent addition at a 0.6% concentration. Now, it pills like crazy under moisturizer, sunscreen, foundation, anything. Are there any ways to mitigate this issue? We’re trying to avoid silicones in this formula and keep the number of ingredients as low as we can.
