Hello^^ ! I’m making a cold process w/o emulsion and want to incorporate liposomes using hydrogenated lecithin. Do I add the liposomes in the water phase before emulsification or once the emulsion is formed. Since, the liposomes is also an emulsion. I do not know if it should be suspended in the water phase or the end oil phase.
    Thank you.

Always add (pre-made) liopsomes after emulsifying, and especially after homogenization or heating for long periods. Though these phosphatidylcholine vesicles are relatively strong, they are sensitive to sheer and strong alkali.

@chemicalmatt I’m using thin film method followed by sonication to make my liposomes. Is this allowed to be used in cosmetics or does this fall under the drug category?

How you make your liposomes is entirely up to you as long as you use cosmetic approved ingredients and list all which happen to remain in the final liposomal solution.
We used thin film method too… starting with lecithin dissolved in not so healthy solvents like DCM and methanol. Did we remove every trace during drying? We didn’t check and our in vitro tests didn’t mind either but I wouldn’t necessarily use these liposomes in a cosmetic product. 🙂

@Pharma Thank you.:) I have one more question regarding preservative eco (Benzyl alcohol, salicylic acid, glycerin, sorbic acid).  When I add it to water it floats as oil beads on top. But, when I solublze it with glycerin and propanediol and add it to water , it solublizes perfectly. I was told by my  tutor that it’s wrong and that glycols are not solublizers and the only way to dissolve it was using true solublizer like decyl glucosides. What is your thoughts on it?
    Thank you
