  Hand sanitizer

  Hello everyone,
  Tried formulating hand sanitizer with 75% ethanol in the end product but I got a cloudy gel. Don’t know what I am doing wrong. Below is the list of ingredients used in %:
  Ethanol (95%)78
  Water 18.5
  Propylene glycol 2
  Glycerin 0.5
  Carbopol (ultrez 20) 0.3
  Amino methyl propanol 0.1
  Lemon grass and sweet lemon fragrance 0.15%
  Mixed carbopol and water, allowed to self wet then added ethanol, PPG, glycerin, fragrance and lastly AMP. Result is a lot of bubbles and cloudy sanitizer. Please what am I not doing right?

  Best guess is that fragrance and oil need to be pre-solubilized separately. Do things step wise so you can determine at what step the formula becomes cloudy and then we can better help fix it.

  Shouldn’t the order of addition be to neutralise before adding alcohol? It’s probably the fragrance though.
