Mosquito repellent regulations
I’m curious about what the regulations for mosquito repellents are in the US.
It seems that it’s not just the FDA but also the EPA that may be concerned about these.
What considerations would need to be taken if marketing a natural spray or lotion with essential oils that claims to repel mosquitos?
I would appreciate any input on this.

So this wouldn’t be regarded as a drug by the FDA, right? Meaning, it wouldn’t need to be made in an FDA approved facility?

Pesticides are an EPA thing not an FDA thing, unless you get into pediculosis, so you are both correct. You will need to get an EPA establishment# and an EPA company# to get into manufacturing and production. Not too difficult.

@chemicalmatt I read that the registration is not necessary if the active ingredients are some essential oils regarded as safe. So this clarifies the issue.
