  There are floc-looking things in my household cleaner

  I made a household cleaner which has a pH of ~14. Raw materials are tap water, KOH, NaOH, sodium polyacrylate, and NTA. It was mixed to homogeneity. After a day, floc-looking things are seen settling-down at the bottom of the container. A bit cloudy and color is brownish. I reviewed my chemistry, and flocs aren’t suppose to form at alkaline environment. What are those floc-looking things? By the way, when I used DI water, none of those things were formed.

  Precipitates from tap water are especially formed at alkaline pH. Depending on how much NTA you added (or TDS in your tap water, respectively), the only metal hydroxide which still may precipitate is magnesium hydroxide.
