  • Maximum % of additions added in cool down stage

Is there a maximum % of additions (e.g. actives, preservatives) that is generally accepted to add to a cream in the cool down stage after the emulsion is formed? At what point does it start affecting the stability of the emulsion?

Also, is a preservative like Dermosoft 1388 (Glycerin, Aqua, Sodium Levulinate, Sodium Anisate) better added to the heated water phase or the cool down stage? Most formulations have it added at the cool down stage, but does it affect efficacy of the preservative either way?

    Thanks!
