    hi there,

Need help with formulating. i am working with a formulator on creating a Retinol serum and I wanted to use Retinaldehyde but was advised to use Retinyl Palmitate, they said:

    1) Retinaldehyde and Retinyl Palmitate would have the same effect over time
    2) Retinaldehyde does not exist in pure form and with encapsulated Retinaldehyde, there is no guarantee that a) encapsulation does nor breaks and oxdise b) once broken will have no effect on skin.

Is this true? there are many formulators here using Retinol and i assume based on rounds of conversions Retinaldehyde would be the most effective?

Is there a supplier out there who can supply good quality Retinaldehyde?

    many thanks in advance.
