pH for damage repair shampoo
Dear All,
I have to design a mild shampoo for extremely dry and chemically damaged hair, especially at the end of tresses. (Customers will be notified strictly to not apply on scalp)
From what I know, a pH of 3.5 would be ideal for this shampoo?
I shall be using a ready blend made of Water, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin , Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Caprylyl / Capryl Glucoside , Phenoxyethanol. It provides decent foam and that is acceptable.
Since this would be made for color protection and general rinsing of hair, not planning to add anything in the blend(just dilute with water). I might have to check the viscocity after adding a rheology modifier gum (Isostearamide MIPA; Glyceryl Laurate as recommended by supplier)
I am thinking of the pH to be :
Shampoo - 3.5
conditioner - 3.5.(typical oil rich silicon free conditioner)
The shampoo has to impart color protection, and simple rinse off of any buildup which will be due to use of silicon free conditioner and hair serum(all 3 will be sold together in a single pack only)
Let me know if the shampoo pH could be at 3.5 or you recommend it to be changed. Is there a need to add other ingredients as no other claims are necessary. However, if you recommend to add for functional purpose, I shall really welcome your suggestion.
Thanks in advance!
