Silica Silylate substite for Hair Styling Powder
Hello all,
I’m trying to replicate the Moisturizing Hair Styling powder formulation on ULProspector, containing:
- 2% VP/VA Copolymer
- 6% Water
- 12% Silica Silylate (Aerosil R812S)
- 80% Glycerin
- Preservative
I had some trouble sourcing Aerosil, and tried to substitute it with Silica Dimethyl Silylate.
Using a kitchen mixer (all I have available) I ended up with a goop, not a powder.
My question is… do you think a proper dissolver would get the correct consistency, or is the main problem that I’m using Silica Dimethyl Silylate instead of Silica Silylate?
