  • Decyl glucoside in emulsions

    Hello Everyone,

Just wanted to say that I very much enjoy reading and learning from all the posts on this forum.

I was going over the below ingredient list and noticed decyl glucoside in it. I’ve used this in shampoos and shower cleansers but never in a lotion. What would be its function in this formula? A colleague told me he has added in an emulsion once to build viscosity but not sure about the real function in this specific formula.  Thank you.

It is probably being used as an emulsifier/solubilizer for a blend of ingredients.

Perry, I saw it in very expensive and high end products below 1% line and always struggled to understand why it’s even there. You confirmed my guess.
