Pomade/Gel Help
I’ve been starting with a formula modeled after one posted here a while back from @Chemist77 for a water-based pomade:
Ceteareth-25 25%
PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate 5%
Propylene Glycol 8%
Glycerin 7%
Polysorbate-20 2%
Fragrance 1%
DMDM hydantoin 0.5%It is very clear and really thick. Almost too hard to scoop out with a strong hold. I’ve been trying to adjust it by adding PEG-40 HCO, PEG-8 Beeswax and PVP, but I’ve been unable to get the ratios right. It usually results in a goopy runny mess that ends in the trash and is quickly depleting my material supply.
I know adding these will impact the clarity, but I would like a pomade that is easier to work with - scooping, applying, and washing out, with more of a medium hold.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
