    Dear Chemist Corner,

I am having difficulty measuring the viscosity of thick creams and balms. I am using a Brookfield LV series viscometer (with Spindle 4) and receive slip / variation in the reading at the 3 lowest speeds. I am considering using an incubator to store the samples at an elevated temp (30 degree C) for 12 hours prior to taking readings. I assume the viscosity may not increase at a linear rate but I assume it would be beneficial to reference against previous batches (measured under the same conditions).

Is there a simpler solution to this challenge?

What methods does this community use for measuring thick creams?
