Why would you want to do that?

I keep seeing these posts. Why do you feel this is an unorthodox product? This is a pretty common Formula that I have seen tens of times? Also, when developing naturally derived pomades and fixatives, keep in mind that you may have to accept a gap in performance between the naturally based Formulation and market leaders using newer, superior raw materials.

The name is for marketing purposes.  You keep seeing these posts because it is a trend right now especially in California.  I am helping a friend who just opened a barber shop.  He sells my beard balms, after shave, shaving soaps, etc. The only thing I can’t seem to get right is a water based matte clay.  It seems like it is not mixing well.  Like the clay is not blending.

There’s no reason to unless you are letting it sit to process the next day. Only thing I would suggest is pre-wet the clay so it absorbs and disperses in the water when mixed. You need to blend the clay well in water before adding the oil phase, or it will clump. Then continue mixing .

What is it - VG:  3.5 grams?

    1) Are you referring to GelMaker by makingcosmetics here? 2) Formulas should be written in % not in grams.
    3) Water tends to evaporate. I wouldn’t recommend to leave it overnight for no obvious reason.

Do you add your clay to the oil phase before combining the oil and water phases?
